Local Events –October 2023

Pumpkin spice and everything nice. Fall is in full swing and there are so many community events to participate in and enjoy this season.  Check out the events happening in your area below:   

 

Rochester

October 14th, Stone Wall Pumpkin Festival: Come and enjoy the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm’s signature event – the Stone Wall Pumpkin Festival. Daytime activities include food, pumpkin bowling, live entertainment, professional craving display, crafts, a Rochester Hills Fire Truck, and more! Guests are invited to carve a pumpkin and place it on the stone walls surrounding the Museum property and return in the evening to see all the pumpkins lit up! Admission cost is $10. October 20th, Hoot & Howl Hayride: Join our Naturalists at Bloomer Park for a hayride to search for nocturnal animal activity. Enjoy a campfire, cider and donuts following the hayride. Meet a few live, nocturnal animals. Suitable for all ages. This program is not intended to be scary. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a paid adult. Explore more about the event here.

October 21st, Trick or Treat Downtown & Halloween Fest: Watch the streets of Rochester come to life with ghosts, ghouls, superheroes and more as children trick-or treat with the Downtown merchants! Children can then meet at the corner of East Street and E. University for a costume parade at 5:15 pm. Followed by a Halloween Fest in the Farmers’ Market Lot! See the full event schedule here.

 

Lake Orion

October 6th, Motown Mark Comedy Productions: Get ready to laugh until your sides hurt as Motown Mark Comedy Productions returns to Oxford! Join us for an unforgettable evening of hilarious stand-up comedy, featuring some of the funniest comedians in the industry benefitting the Family Benevolent Fund of Oakland County! October 18th, Halloween Extravaganza: Trick or Treating Downtown is just around the corner! All the ghosts and ghouls will be out in Children's Park Wednesday, October 18th from 5-7pm. Our spooky sponsors and local businesses will be handing out candy to Trick or Treators and cider & donuts will be provided. Bring the whole family to enjoy this event and our festive decorations.

October 21st, Yoga for Beginners: Whether you’re seeking health and joy or peace and love, whether it’s success in the world or inner exploration you’re striving for, these simple practices are designed to help you cut through the struggle and walk through life with ease. Anyone ages 18+ can attend. Hosted at the Orion Township Public Library. Find more information here.

October 21st, Lake Orion Franken Frenzy 5K, 10K & Family Mile: Race 2 (of 3) in our annual "Run the Holidays Race Series,” the Lake Orion Franken Frenzy Run takes place just over a week before Halloween and is festive spooky fun for the whole family! Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to join us in taking part in the 5k, 10k, and/or Family Mile distance(s). Registrants receive an event shirt and run bib. Finishers receive a medal, photos, food/drink, and are eligible for 10-year age group awards. The family mile is not eligible for awards. Find out more here.

 

Auburn Hills

October 17th, Oakland University Men’s Soccer: Watch the Oakland University Men’s Soccer team take on the Louisville Cardinals in a home game at Oakland Soccer Field. Fun for the whole family. Purchase tickets here.

October 19th, Taste of Auburn Hills: Join us for the annual Taste event! With participating restaurants and food vendors, you can enjoy a fun night out with exquisite food and drinks while mingling with other members of the business community. Get tickets here.
